Dear Friends,
What a year it has been! While we have seen deep devastation and loss during this year, it has also shown the ways in which we can compassionately and fiercely come together (if only virtually) to share in our collective humanity. It has shown what is most valuable to us: family, friends, and loved ones. It has shown the power of community care and mutual aid. It has shown that we care about each other even when we do not know each other. And it has shown that together we are strongest.
As A Safe Place continues to do the work to fight against the cycle of intimate partner violence, we wish to express our deepest and most profound thank you to everyone who has supported us this year through volunteer work, monetary, and in-kind donations. You have enabled survivors and their children the ability to a safe place to live, free mental health care, legal-aid, transitional housing assistance, case management, and basic necessities including food, clothing, and personal care items.
During the past fiscal year, A Safe Place has provided 2,265 bed nights and served 2,971 meals. We have provided 1,657 number of trauma-informed and survivor-centered counseling sessions. We have creatively adjusted our outreach, event execution, and mental health care to accommodate survivors we serve as well as our community at large. Our services have continued over the past 9 months of the pandemic and assisted those most affected by the lockdown thanks to you all.
We are so grateful to share in a community that has unwaveringly supported us for the past 42 years. We could not have continued to do this work for all these years without your help.
Thank you for thinking of us and may we allow the light in during these times. We hope you have a wonderful and safe holiday season.
With gratitude,
Carolyn Russell, MSW., MA.
